This article is specifically designed to deal with questions about building aggregate regional models. Detailed instructions concerning the initial steps to beginning a new Model can be found here.
Creating a Twin Cities MSA Model
For this example, we are using a Minnesota State Package and are looking to aggregate a 7 county region to create a Twin Cities MSA model.
- Scroll through the list of counties and highlight the data files that you need to add to the MSA region by holding down the CTRL key. Once all desired counties are highlighted, click the
button.
You can see that 7 regions will be included in this Model. Click to build your Model.
- The MSA Model is done and ready to use.
Creating a CA Watershed Model
In this case, we have a California State Plus Package and are looking to aggregate both County and Zip Code data files to build a Watershed.
- Scroll through the list of counties and highlight the data files that you need to add to your model by holding down the CTRL key. Once all desired counties are highlighted, click

to locate the appropriate Zip Code files you wish to use in your model. Scroll through the list of Zip Codes and highlight the data files that you need to add to your model by holding down the CTRL key. Once all desired Zip Codes are highlighted, click.
You can see that 6 regions will be included in this Model. Click to build your model.
- The CA Watershed Model is complete and ready to use.
Creating a Multi-State Regional Model
To demonstrate building a Multi-State aggregated region, we will use the AZ, UT, CO & NM (4 Corners) State Total Files.
- Scroll through the list to locate and highlight the State Total File, and then click

to locate the next appropriate State Totals File you wish to use in your model and click
You can see that 4 regions will be included in this Model. Click to build your model.
- The Multi-state Model is complete and ready to use.
Creating a Multi-County Regional Model
To demonstrate building a Multi-County aggregated regional model, we will use the WI State Data Package.
- Scroll through the list of County Files and highlight those that you need to add to your model by holding down the CTRL key. Once the desired files are highlighted, click

You can see that 4 regions will be included in this Model. Click to build your model.
- The Multi-State Model is complete and ready to use.
