Utilizing the Advanced Modeling features activates the Explore and Customize menus as well as the Multi-Regional Analysis functions. Advanced Modeling can be activated through: File > User Preferences > Analysis > Advanced Modeling.

Explore Menu
When Accounts Explorer is enabled, the four (4) category options populate: Study Area Data, Social Accounts, Industry Accounts, and Multipliers. These options become visible on the left side of the IMPLAN Software in the Tasks bar under Explore.

The Explore menu provides a detailed view into the background information of the Study Region. If you do not use or want to view these functions, unchecking them from the User Prefrences menu will hide the Explore functions and additional activity types.
gives you access to the background information about the Industries, Institutions, and Commodities in your Study Region.
allows you to explore the Social Account Reports, Balance Sheets, and IxC SAM and IxC Input Output Accounts.
includes 3 tabs: Reports, IxI Social Accounting Matrix, and IxI Input Output Accounts.
provides two options to view the region's Multipliers: Summary Multipliers and Detail Multipliers for all 536 IMPLAN Industries and for all Multiplier types.
Note: For users familiar with IMPLAN Pro 2.0®, this information will be similar to that found under the button.
Customize
When Model Customization is enabled, there are four (4) options in the Model Customization category: Study Area Data, Industry Production, CommodityProduction, and Trade Flows. These options will populate on the left side of the IMPLAN Software in the Tasks bar under Customize.

The Customize menu provides the ability to modify Study Area Data, Industry Production, Commodity Production, and Trade Flows. If you do not use or want to view these functions, unchecking them from the User Preferences menu will hide the Customize options.
Modify existing or create custom industries. Users provide the data they have, and the software generates the remaining estimated values. Unlike with IMPLAN Pro 2.0, you do not need to customize the background Study Area data in order to create an Industry that represents your same Employment, Employee Compensation, and Proprietor Income. These fields can be changed directly in the Event.
Change inputs and input ratios included in an industry's production function for existing or newly created Industries.
Alter byproduct production for existing or newly created Industries.
Change the Local Use Ratio or RSC for an entire Commodity, or edit RPC values for Intermediate and Institutional Inputs to custom create a new RPC value.
Multi-Regional Analysis (MRIO)
Performing a Multi-Regional Analysis (MRIO) allows you to model local impacts and see them ripple through the economy to surrounding counties and/or states. Not required for standard impact analysis studies, this advanced feature is a specialized function that links multiple Study Area regions together with trade flow information to estimate impacts.
Selecting displays the Multi-Regional Analysis feature in Setup Scenarios.
Select Analyze Scenarios under the Analyze Task Menu on the left side of the IMPLAN Software. The Multi Regional tool box will populate in the lower portion of the screen. For more information on how to perform an MRIO analysis, click here.
