IMPLAN Pro: Activity Options

Activity Options allows users to import and export Activities and their associated Events between models.

IMPORT:

IMPLAN provides two types of spending patterns which can be imported. Users can also import custom created patterns or specialized industries from three locations.

Industry Spending Pattern: Import the coefficient based spending pattern for any of IMPLAN's Industry Sectors. Remember, the coefficients of these spending patterns do not equal 1.00 because they exclude Value Added calculations. When modeling an Industry Spending Pattern, you will need to create additional Event(s) to capture the Value Added impacts. 

When the Industry Spending Pattern Activity is selected, the Commodities and their associated coefficient values will appear in the Events screen.

Institution Spending Pattern: Provides spending patterns for IMPLAN Institutions. The Institution type will appear in the Activities screen, while the Commodities and their associated coefficient values will appear in the Events window.

From Activity Library: Users can import custom created Activities and Events from the Activity Library into their model. It is necessary to Export an Activity prior to Importing. When the Activity is highlighted, the associated Events in the Events in Activity screen will display.

Note Activity Libraries are stored in the Structural Matrix file, they cannot be transferred between data years. To move Activities between data years: Import > From Another Model.  

Users can also Delete Activity schemes in this window. Once you delete a scheme it cannot be retrieved.

From Another Model: Activity Libraries can be imported directly from other Models. From Another Model > Select/Open the Model of the Activity to be used.

Select the Activity to Import (when the Activity is highlighted, the associated Events in the Events in Activity screen will display) > select Import. Multiple Activities may be selected and imported simultaneously using the Ctrl key.

Activities cannot be imported from an Aggregated Model. The aggregated sectors are not transposed between the model being imported to the new Model.

From Excel: Import an Activity from your completed Excel Activity Template. From Excel > Activity Template. This will bring you to the default Activity Template pathway (Libraries > Documents > MIG > IMPLAN > Templates).

Select the Activity Template to import or navigate to the correct directory. The Activity Template needs to be closed prior to importing.

Select the appropriate Activity Type and Import.

EXPORTING:

Activities and their Events can be exported to Excel or to the Activity Library for use in other Models.

To Activity Library: uploads the selected Activity to the library. This is a necessary step if you wish to Import an Activity into a Model.

To Excel: : Exports the highlighted Activity from a Model to an Excel Spreadsheet.

The export can be directed to a different folder other than the default and/or given a different name than the Activity. When the file is successfully saved, the Export Success window will prompt.
