The Analyze Scenarios screen, found by clicking the Analyze Scenarios option in the Tasks Bar, is where Activities are combined into groups for analysis. When the Analyze Scenarios screen first opens, the New Scenario screen is activated.
CREATING A SCENARIO:
Scenario Name: Every Scenario needs a descriptive name that can be easily identified when searching for the Scenario in the Scenario Name drop-down menu. This will also be used as its identifier in the Scenario Results. The Name of Your New Scenario: field is highlighted when the New Scenario screen opens. To set the Scenario Name, type in a name that will distinguish it from other
Scenarios you are creating.
Scenario Level: Scenario Level is the number of times the impact is occurring in the year and is set to 1 by default. Scenario Level has a multiplying affect on the values of all included Activities and their associated Events. If any included Activities have a Level greater or less than one, the Activity and Scenario Level values will be multiplied together to calculate the effects of that Activity (e.g., there are 3 Activities associated with a Scenario. Activities A & B have Levels of 1.00. Activity C has an Activity Level of 6.
If they are incorporated into a Scenario with a Scenario Level of 3, they will have the following effects: Activities A&B's total values will be multiplied by 3, and Activity C's total value will be multiplied by 18 (6x3). This summed value ((3*A)+(3*B)+(18*C)) will be shown as the direct output of the Scenario in the Summary Results).
Once Scenario name and level have been completed, click Save.
The Analyze Scenarios main screen will be displayed.
Scenario name and Level are both shown in this screen.
Scenario Level can be changed after the Scenario has been created by typing the new Scenario Level directly into the field.
The Analyze Scenarios screen is divided into Available Activity(s) and Selected Activities. On the left, Available Activity(s) displays the names of all Activities that have Events in the Model. Activities that do not have Events associated with them will not appear in this screen. Users can return to the Setup Activities screen to add Events to Activities at any time.
Once a Scenario has been created the Delete button activates.
DELETING SCENARIOS:
Scenarios can be deleted using the Delete button. The Scenario displaying in the Scenario Name field will be deleted. Scenarios can be selected for deletion using the drop down menu.
Deleting a Scenario will also remove any results related to that Scenario; therefore, when you click the Delete button, the following warning will pop up.
Yes deletes the Scenario and its results.
No keeps the Scenario and returns to the Analyze Scenarios screen.
POPULATING A SCENARIO:
Once we have created a new Scenario, the next step is choosing which of the Available Activity(s) should be incorporated into the analysis.
Below is the Available Activity(s) portion of the screen. There are two methods for selecting a single Activity for a Scenario.
Activities can be highlighted and then moved into the Selected Activities window by clicking on Select, or the desired data can be moved by doubling clicking on it. For selecting multiple Activities, hold the Ctrl button while selecting the desired Activities.
Once the first Activity has been selected, the Unselect button will activate. Activities can be removed from the Selected Activities screen with this button or using methods described above.
ANALYZING A SCENARIO:
Once all Activities that need to be included in a Scenario are in the Selected Activities screen, you are ready to Analyze the Scenario.
Once the first Activity is selected, the Analyze Single Region button becomes available. Click Analyze Single Region to begin your impact analysis. While the analysis is running, its progress can be viewed in the progress bar at the bottom of the screen.
When the analysis is finished, the following window prompts.
Yes opens the Scenario Results screen.
No returns back to the Analyze Scenarios screen. This is especially useful if you are doing multiple analysis runs and do not need to view the results until all Scenarios have been analyzed.
