INTRODUCTION
We’ve continued to develop the new IMPLAN platform. This article and the video below detail the changes to the tool available in IMPLAN Version 6 (the original release of app.implan.com was the fifth version of IMPLAN).
REGIONS SCREEN
The IMPLAN Map now displays state name labels - IMPLAN isn’t intended to be a geography quiz!
Right-click on the state you’d like to view at the county level and choose “Show [state name] Counties”.
When you hover over displayed counties, their name will display.
States and counties can be selected by clicking on the map. See below, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Georgia are in county view and counties at each of their touching borders have been selected.
You can also right-click to hide counties and to zoom out when the map is zoomed in on a portion of the country.
CUSTOMIZE REGION MENU
Like in version 5 of IMPLAN, simply click the Region Details icon on the Selected Region to access the Customize Region Menu.
In the menu, you will now find a full list of the 546 IMPLAN Industries that you can toggle between. The new layout makes the menu easier to use. Quickly find each industry to view the data or define your customizations.
Once customizations to an industry are entered, the industry will be marked with a customized industry icon . After industries have been customized as desired, click Complete Customization to save the customized Region under a unique Region name.
Once you’ve saved the Region under a new name, the new Region will appear in the Selected Regions field and display its build progress. The Region Details icon will appear on the Customized Region when the build is complete.
IMPACT SCREEN: EVENT OPTION CHANGES
Event Handle
On each Event in version 6, there is a designated spot on the far right of the Event to click to select the Event, and to click and drag the Event to a Group. The drag and drop handle is a series of six dots .
TOGGLE EDIT MODE
The pencil icon on each Event allows you to turn off the Edit Mode on an Event. Simply click the Edit icon again to turn the Edit Mode on again. Once an analysis has been run, Events on the Impact Screen will automatically be locked.
ADVANCED FIELDS ICON/INDICATOR
In addition to the Edit Mode icon, you can now show and hide the Advanced Fields when Type is set to an Event Type that has advanced options by clicking the Advanced Fields icon found on the Event. This icon also serves as an Advanced Fields indicator. The icon will be colored teal
to indicate any changes made in the Advanced Fields, example below.
The options displayed as icons on the Event along with other Event options are accessible via the Event Menu.
Margin Options
Where Margins apply in Industry Events and Commodity Output Events, Total Revenue has been relabeled as Purchaser Price and Marginal Revenue has been relabeled as Producer Price to help reduce confusion on making the appropriate selection.
