I work for a company that provides financial benefits to qualifying companies in Westchester County, NY. We are looking to use your program to help determine to effects a company will have on our area, so we can determine if/how much in benefits we should provide them. How would one interpret the impact result (output, employment, etc.)? More specifically, how does one take the results and put it into a sentence? i.e.: Say a company increases total output by $5million. How would one draw conclusions from this number?

  • The verbage would be something like this: The Acme Marble Company employees 10 workers with a payroll of $500,000 and produces $5,000,000 of marbles. [direct effect] The Acme Marble Company in turn supports an additional 12 jobs and $450,000 of labor income within the local region. [indirect and induced] This additional economic activity is generated by Acme purchases of goods and services from local suppliers, as well as, by household expenditures of the Acme Co and its suppliers' payrolls.
