Thanks, Doug. I do have a follow-up question for the approach of using an already existing industry. I need to add 2 new industries to my region and considered using tobacco and cotton since there is no production of either in Washington state. However, is this okay to do if cotton (8), for instance, is an input into other industries that do have some positive production in the Washington state (Gross Commodity Demand is not zero)?

That is the handy thing about the commodity/industry structure. In the by-products matrix you will need to change the current commodity of production (tobacco or cotton) and change it to the new commodity of production). The new industries will then only participate in the multipliers when there is a demand for that new commodity.

With regards to the by-products matrix where you are saying that current commodity of production is changed, are you referring to Customize --> Commodity Production? Possibly related question, why does Commodity 3410 (Other amusements and recreation) show up as a byproduct for most agricultural sectors?

Yes and I have noticed that too. I assumed it to be, like a tour of the dairy farm or hay ride sort of thing.
