Employment estimates per land use type
In a 2004 study, I had cited an IMPLAN publication for the estimate: 1 warehouse employee per 1000 sq ft. More recently, I have seen 1 employee per 5000 sq ft. Does IMPLAN have information on planning estimates for employment associated with different land uses?

From the 2002 Census of retail trade: http://www.census.gov/prod/ec02/ec0244sxsbt.pdf we have sales per square foot (don't forget to convert to gross margin before using IMPLAN output per worker for employment).Gross margin as a percent of gross sales can also be found in the retail census. I couldn't find a comparable table for wholesale trade. But as you'll note, there is a tremendous variation between business NAICs and geography. Both values could be correct depending on the case. -
I just found wholesale floor space and sales from the 2007 Census: http://factfinder.census.gov/servlet/IBQTable?_bm=y&-geo_id=&-ds_name=IA0700A13&-_lang=en Again don't forget to convert to gross margin if using IMPLAN output per worker. Better bet is to use employment by NAICs from this same Census.
