Industry spending on transportation sectors
I am looking to calculate the % that each of the 440 IMPLAN industries spends on different transportation categories (e.g. truck, rail, water, air, and pipeline)for different BEA regions (e.g Far West, Rocky Mountain...etc). My thought is to apply the % for each transportation sector from a I/O use table to the total value added for each industry. Essentially I am looking to replicate the Transportation Satellite Account from the BTS. 1st, is this an appropriate method to follow and 2nd, Do I need to apply RPC's to the Value Added to get just regional impacts (e.g. within the BEA region)?
Thanks

1. As we start with the National I-O matrix for every region the gross %'s will be very close for each of your regions. 2. To the value added - not sure what you are trying to do? But yes, the RPCs for the region for each of the transportaion sectors will tell you how much of the region demand for transportation is met by region transportation entitities.
