Modeling hotel operation
Hi, I am modeling a hotel permanent operation.
My expense budget includes total employee compensation, cost of goods sold and utilities.
I am modeling total employee compensation as the industry output for sector 411. Is this right or I should input that data as employee compensation for sector 411?
For the cost of goods sold (lets assume all is food and beverage) I have two questions:
1-I am modeling this as industry sales for sector 324 (Retail - Food and beverage) and using "producer prices." This under the assumption that the end customer is whoever will have dinner at the hotel restaurant and not the hotel itself. Is this the right way to model it? Should I use other approach such a wholesale trade?
2-My model gives me a direct employment number for sector 34.
A.Should I consider these hotel jobs? If so, would I be double counting these jobs if I am already including total employee compensation?
B. Are these jobs at the retailer who is supplying the goods to the hotel? If this is the case, should I consider these direct jobs?
Thanks,
Andres

In a hotel impact in IMPLAN, the operations of the hotel does not include the restaurant part of the operation. That has to be modeled separately. Does the employee compensation include the hotel workers as well as the hotel restaurant? If so, can you separate them? You would enter the employee compensation in the employee compensation cell. The output will be calculated based on the EC value you entered using the models output to employee compensation relationship. The cost of goods sold only does not give you a complete picture. Is cost of goods sold really only food and beverage?
