Determining Indirect and Induced costs by industry
With the Colorado data, I need to know how to reach the indirect and induced costs by Industry further broken down into Output, employment, Labor income and Indirect Business Taxes. I am replicating a study done in 2007 for California working to understand the economic impact that regulations have on GSP in Colorado. How do I get these values?
Attached is a copy of the data from the previous study which I need to obtain something close to.
Thanks!
As I am unable to attached a form, below is an example of the data:

IMPLAN SupportHi Amanda, We apologize but we aren't sure exactly what you are trying to do. Have your run a study in IMPLAN and are looking for the breakdown of by industry of the economic factors, or are you looking for help in setting up the study? If it is the former, you can access this information quickly by selecting the Detail Results tab at the top of the results screen and then sorting the View By: field to the economic factor that you desire to report. It looks from the information below that this is aggregated. You can apply an aggregation scheme to the report if you desire or view it in the full 440 detail. If you are looking to aggregate to a 2 or 3 digit NAICS scheme there are prefabricated aggregation libraries for these in the Aggregation builder found under the Options>Aggregate menu. You will want to import the desired screen and then CLOSE the window. You do NOT want to click the Aggregate Model button. Once you go into the Detailed results screen after importing the desired scheme you can choose the Options menu in the Detailed Results tab and apply a User Scheme to the results. This will aggregate the results tables for you. If you have a custom scheme that you would like to use you can do that outside the software or in the aggregation builder screen. If you are looking for help running an analysis, we would need to know if you are looking for the contribution of currently existing industry or a change in production level of an industry in order to point you to the right setup methodology. Hope this helps, and please let us know if we can help further.0 -
Thanks for getting back to me. According to my understanding, the data I included above was apparently provided by the IMPLAN software in exactly this form in 2006. I am not an economist and so need the current data available to reflect exactly the data obtained by the previous study. How do I accomplish this?? I am seriously lost. Thanks, Amanda0

IMPLAN SupportHi Amanda, We apologize, we thought you were looking for analysis help, but it appears from the current post that you are looking for assistance in purchasing data. The current year's data is 2011 and the package that you need depends somewhat on the level of detail you are looking for in terms of regional economies. For example, it looks like you are interested in modeling at an aggregate state level (i.e. not interested in county level specificity for results) based on the fact that your first post was related to Gross State Product. If this is correct then you would need to purchase the state total file for Colorado. We also have other packages available if you are interested in looking at sub-state geographies. You may also want to consider calling in and talking to one of support/presales agents (651.439.4421)so that they can help you select what you need to purchase. Please note also a couple of additional things: 1. Unless the methodology on a previous study is very well delineated, it can be very difficult to exactly replicate a previous study. 2. Since you are completely new to the system, you may want to consider some sort of training or project consultation, as these methods will be able to provide you more hands on support than the forum. More about these options and their costs can be found in our 'Order Online' section or again more details can be obtained by calling our staff. 3. It sounds like you are looking at the impact of something changing in the economy which means you will need to be able to predict the initial change, and then IMPLAN can tell you what happens in the economy as a result of this. Since you indicate that this is related to regulations, we want to warn you that studies involving policies typically require a lot of assumptions and can require some special knowledge and information brought to the software. Even for a very simple study you will need to know at least an initial change in production, employment, or payroll in a given industry type or industry types to be able to use the model. 4. It does look like aggregation was applied at some point in the model. Ideally the report you are trying to replicate will tell you either how they created their aggregation or what pre-defined scheme they used. Please let us know if you have any additional questions, or feel free to call us.0 -
Hello, Thanks for responding. I have purchased the Colorado state data already and I was led to believe that the numbers presented above were what the previous researchers obtained (exactly) from IMPLAN when they did it. They do not describe data manipulation to reach their conclusions and when pressed stated they didn't have to either. So, where to go from here..... Thanks again for your response. Amanda0

IMPLAN SupportHi Amanda, We apologize we are having problems understanding exactly what problem you are running into. Can you please clarify for us, if you have already run your analysis and are just looking for how to format the results, or if you are looking for help to run your impact analysis? Thanks0
