Total jobs: CEW versus IMPLAN
I purchased the 2012 data for Cobb County Georgia and in the study area explorer it shows 437,501 total jobs. I know that you use County Bus Pattens, CEW, and other sources to derive this figure, but it is considerably higher that what BLS shows in its CEW data for this county for 2012. The BLS figure is 301,277 for all industries, all establishment sizes. I know CEW misses some jobs but the difference between the IMPLAN data and CEW is just too much to believe. Can you shed any light on why this is the case?

Hi Robert, We apologize for the delay in the response. The differences come in because Bureau of Economic Analysis REA (was called REIS) data show 426,871 jobs for 2011. Biggest differences are that BLS CEW data does not show proprietors, military (including reservists), religious workers, elected officials and railroad workers. Hope this helps.
