New York Data Package

We have purchased the data package for New York. One of the projects we are working on has the following requirement: Using the IMPLAN input-output modeling system – an economic modeling tool commonly used in economic impact studies, utilize versions of IMPLAN specifically tailored to New York State, the Catskill region and Sullivan County I'm really not sure what this means, but do you know if the package we purchased fits this requirement?

  • Hi Joe. It sounds like the project is wanting you to build a Study Region for Sullivan County and the remaining three primary counties (Ulster, Greene and Delaware) that typically make up the Catskills region of New York to model your impacts. If this is the case, then we would interpret this to mean that you are looking at doing a multi-regional analysis, with Sullivan County being the target region and Ulster, Greene and Delaware counties being linked to the target region. Since two additional northern counties, Schoharie and Otsego are also sometimes included in the regional designation of Catskill Region, you should check to make sure that these counties are not part of your project as well. As you probably know, in order to conduct a Multi-regional analysis, you will need the State Package for NY or, at minimum, the data for the counties involved in your project. We hope this helps.
