Hello: I have a question regarding the muti-regional analysis. I am examining the economic linkages between counties in the Charlotte area, specifically: Cabarrus, Catawba, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Rowan, Union and Mecklenburg. Would it possible to estimate the total backward and forward linkages between Maecklenburg and the neighboring counties as a separate region and each individual county? Thanks, Paul Hendershot

 • Hello Paul, Yes, you can link those regions. You need to do is build them into their own groupings of models. If you want to link Mecklenburg to Cabarrus, Catawba and Iredell, you will need to build models for each of those counties. If you want to link Mecklenburg to region aggregating Cabarrus, Catawba and Iredell, you will need to build another model for Mecklenburg, and an aggregated model for Cabarrus, Catawba and Iredell. You could link each county to each county in eight different iterations, this would require 64 models. Please see our Batch Modeling technique. IMPLAN is not designed to look at forward linkages, only backward linkages. Would you mind providing more information on what you are looking to do, and we may be able to assist.
