multi year analysis
I have been asked to prepare an impact report to highlight an organization's impact over their 35 year history. Do I need to purchase the county package for the past 35 years and complete an analysis of each year separately or is there a way to aggregate the impact and also aggregate their data inputs (ie total paid wages over the past 35 years)?

IMPLAN SupportHi Teri, You can can do that but there are a couple of fundamental underlying issues. 1. In order to sum these you will need to choose a single year's value and deflate/inflate all the remaining values to that year. This will take 2 calculations one for Output and one for Value Added factors (GDP Deflator). 2. The economy 35 years ago looked nothing like it does now. Deflators only adjust dollar values not the underlying Multiplier relationships, so using a single year as a proxy means the entire analysis works on the assumption of a 2012 economy, which is a questionable assumption especially considering the change in industry mix that has happened across the county in the past 20+ years. 3. The data doesn't go back 35 years. 4. One possibility to help increase the accuracy but without running an analysis each year is to identify a number of target years that represent known changes in the economy, and to run groups of years under these Multiplier relationships. 5. With this option you have to do the 528-509-440 conversions. Thanks!0
