Downstream effects of petrochemical facility
Hello,
I am interested in measuring the downstream effects of a possible petrochemical facility in PA. The facility has not been built yet, but studies have been done on the construction and operation of the facility itself. I would like to measure the increase in production due to the output from the new facility. For example, the plastics industry in PA (and all byproducts) will be boosted by a certain percentage once the facility is operational. Would you suggest using (estimated) increase in industry sales for each downstream industry that is expected to arise from the new facility? Or is there another way that you would suggest to measure the downstream impact.
Thanks!

Hi Anne. Thank you for your post. Unfortunately, IMPLAN is not able to look at the downstream impacts. IMPLAN is not able to predicate in that capacity. If you can find outside ways to make an estimate, we can help you to split the facility off of the analysis though. If you know the expected Industry Sales, Employment #, Employee Compensation value for the Petrochemical facility; the IMPLAN Software will tell you the Industries that are impacted by the Petrochemical facility. This will give you the measured increase in the production of the Petrochemical facility and the Industries that it impacts. Thanks.
