2013 state dataset v. 2012 state dataset
In light of the loss of the publishing of complete make and use tables (I believe this has happened) at BEA, how complete is your 2013 state level dataset? Your 2012 dataset? Is 2012 more complete than the other? Please correct me if I am wrong about BEA and the make and use tables. I understand that what is releases is many sectors smaller than previously.
Thanks,
Bob Ball

IMPLAN SupportHi Bob, Thank you for your post. BEA has always (for the past two decades, at least) released its most detailed benchmark make and use tables every five years, coinciding with the Economic Census, albeit several years after the census is conducted. Those detailed tables are incorporated in IMPLAN datasets. BEA historically has not published the full detail benchmark tables on an annual basis, so there has not been a loss of completeness (except insofar as they will occasionally consolidate sectors). The BEA publishes less detailed I-O tables on an annual basis. The 2013 data is more up-to-date and is based on equally detailed make and use tables compared to the 2012 data (Actually, the 2013 data is based on more detailed make and use tables, since IMPLAN has developed make and use profiles for some industries at a higher level of detail than what the BEA publishes with its benchmark). The BEA released the detailed tables from the 2007 benchmark in 2014, and those tables are incorporated in the 2013 IMPLAN data. The 2012 IMPLAN data use the 2002 benchmark, as it was the most comprehensive and up-to-date data available at the time. With all of its datasets, IMPLAN uses the most up-to-date study area data available. Thanks!0
