Altering Spending Patterns
Hello,
I am looking to analyze the impacts of a specific industry (local agriculture). I have the value of production for all farms. I also have yearly budget and purchasing information for half of the farms. Therefore, I have a very thorough view of their spending patterns. I was hoping to input these values into my model for increased specificity. Is this possible? Is there an example online of how to do this? Any suggestions on the best way to tackle the task?
Thank you!

Hi Ana, Thank you for your post. You can certainly customized the Spending Pattern for the Agriculture Sectors that you wish to analyze. Once your model is built, select the Setup Activities Screen > Activity Options > Import > Industry Spending Pattern. As an addition, if you use the Spending Pattern then you will need to also run a Labor Income Change Activity Type to model those impacts. As the Spending Patterns do not includes wages it is just the Intermediate Expenditures. You can also build your own spending pattern if you have a full budget of goods and services; we would recommend converting dollar values to coefficients and using the Industry Spending Pattern Activity Type.
