Customizing industry data
Hello,
I'm looking to find out if there is a way to ignore a certain industry sector when running an analysis. To elaborate, I want to run an industry change for sector 156 (Petroleum refineries), but want the results to not include any indirect or induced impacts from sector 20 (oil and gas extraction), which is by far the largest indirect sector normally. Initially I thought I could do this by customising the industry data so that the coefficient to that sector is zero, but it seems that all other sectors are then scaled up to compensate, which I do not want to happen. Is there another approach I can take?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Jonathan, Thank you for your post! We recommend setting the RPC (Regional Purchase Coefficient) to Zero for Sector 20. This will ensure that the Intermediate Expenditures are not purchased in the region and therefore can't be apart of the Indirect and Induced impacts. We also recommend that you name the Model something that indicates that you have made changes to the underlying Study Area Data. This is so you do not use it for regular analysis. Finally, you will need to put the coefficient back that you had changed. Thanks!
