Hello, I just accidentally posted this in the Data Questions sub-forum so apoligies for the duplicate but this seemed like the more appropriate place. I'm hoping someone can provide some guidance for me on how to estimate the economic impact of a beach closure using IMPLAN. In the past I have only used IMPLAN to estimate positive economic impacts (e.g. new jobs, new development projects etc.) but have not estimated economic losses. In this particular case I am working on a study to estimate the economic impacts of a recreational public beach closing for several days. Some questions: 1. I assume I will need to know the average daily visitors and an estimate for average expenditure per visitor. Would it be valide to input this total lost expenditure (# of visitors x average daily expenditure per visitor) into a sector in IMPLAN as an industry change to estimate the indirect and induced impacts? 2. If yes to #1 above, do you have a recommended industry sector? It seems like industry "496 Other amusement and recreation industries" covers "Bathing Beaches" so would this be the recommended sector? There is also NAICS 532292 which seems to be specific to beach rentals. Any advice here would be appreciated. The above is based on my understanding of how I could theoretically go about this. Any advice/suggestion related to a methodology would be very helpful. Thanks, Mason
