Error in modifying production function

I am trying to add three new sectors to my 2014 Michigan model. Three sectors (68, 69, and 70) are not in the Michigan model. More specifically, I am splitting sectors 19, 372 and 376 into wood and non-wood sectors. I changed the titles on 68-70 and revised employment, output, etc. for all 6 sectors. I then constructed the model through multipliers. Next, I exported production functions for 19, 372 and 376. I then tried to import them into 68-70. Here are the error messages I received: This will permanently replace your production function. Do you want to continue? You cannot delete all of the industries. Please add at least one industry and try again. You may not edit this production function. By definition, this industry has no intermediate purchases. ANY SUGGESTIONS? PS--I noticed the production functions are no longer in the library. Also, with the error messages, the Library function is no longer and option.

  • Hello Larry, The first message is an automated warning that will always prompt when importing a production function. The other two messages may be indicative of an error occurring in the system. We have been unable to replicate the issue on our end, but there are a plethora of possible reasons as to why. In order to better troubleshoot this issue, would you be willing to provide us with a copy of your model? If so, please email support@implan.com and reference this forum post. Note: You mention that you changed the titles of your sectors (and perhaps the exported production functions). The IMPLAN system does not read some special characters (such as apostrophes), and we suggest that you do not utilize them in any of your labeling. Regards, IMPLAN Staff

  • I will try to add only one new sector/production function and drop special characters. I'll be back in touch with outcome. Larry
