Different direct employment than value entered

After creating an event using employment as the basis, I ran the analysis and the results showed almost twice as many direct employees as I had entered. This makes no sense to me. [Note: I understand the difference between direct and indirect & induced.] I ran it again starting with value (which automatically gave me the same employment figure I first entered) and the analysis kicked out the higher direct employment figure again. If I TELL the program the sector has 100 direct employees and it comes back and tells me it actually has 175 direct employees, this seems like an error.

  • I can think of a couple different things: 1) Are you using industry basis with the year of the model = Year specified for the event? 2) Is the employment you are trying to get the impact on the only event in the group in the impact window? If the above are true, then you are correct you should expect the direct employment to be the employment entered.
