V3 Installation
I've just installed V3 on my computer. I clicked on the IMPLAN3 icon to open and received the following message "This appliance is not registered to run with your software." I click OK and it closes and never opens to the registration screen. I've uninstalled and reinstalled with no change. I am running Windows XP in a virtual machine mode on a MAC. I have been using previous versions of IMPLAN software with no problems.

I am having the same problem. I had IMPLAN v.3 previously installed on my laptop (windows 7). I uninstalled and installed the new package a couple of times but the same message keeps coming up. "This appliance is not registered to run with your software." However, it will not allow me to register it. This did not happen with the other data package that I bought from you all last year so I am a little perplexed. Any help? -
Installation of IMPLAN on a Mac is not supported but we have had some luck getting IMPLAN to work on a mac. It sounds like you are using a windows virtualization software like parallels that mimics a windows environment rather than having a native install via boot commander. Virtualization software like parallels create a software layer on top of the mac OS. Many lower level functions are still run under the Mac OS such as direct drive access permissions and USB data management. Because the IMPLAN software is designed to run on windows based systems we use many of Microsoft’s framework 3.5 assumptions. One of these is the location of the user.config file. Parrallels and mac OS use a ghost path that mimics this file structure and only gives limited permissions to change files. Thus the error you are getting. We have tried to get this working but have not had any luck. Our preferred work around is to use the integrated Boot Camp dual boot system to fully install windows XP/Vista/WIN 7 on your Mac and use the IMPLAN software natively in windows. Once you are natively in windows there should be no problem.
