Issue with industry 294 in Polk County
Hi,
I'm working on an impact analysis related to Polaris's decision to move their production facilities from Osceola in Polk County to Mexico. Last I'd heard, they were employing about 560 workers at their Polk County plant. They fall into implan industry 294 (All other transportation equipment manufacturing), since in NAICS they are 336999 (All other transportation equipment manufacturing). However, using the explore study area data option, I'm seeing only 266 jobs listed in 294 for Polk. I could customize the study area for my model, but I'm wondering if I'm just missing something or what's up? Thanks!

I am sure it is an annual average estimate based on the CBP firms by size class data. Multipliers are reduced to a per unit impact per dollar of demand - the original gross level only serves to change how much other industries buy their production locally. You are doing a what if scenario of closing down the industry - so you won't want indirect and induced effects on that same industry - since you are applying the entire output as a direct effect.
