Consumption of Electricity, Natural Gas, and Fuel

I am trying to evaluate the total amount of Electricity, Natural Gas, and Fuel (gasoline, diesel) consumed in my region by Households and Commercial/Industrial. I am having trouble identifying the appropriate sectors for each of the energy types. I think the below is a start. Electricity: sectors 31, 428(?), 431(?) Natural Gas: sectors 32, 20(?), 337(?), 428(?), 431(?) Fuel: sectors 115, 326, 20(?) As far as fuel is concerned, i will couple expenditures with national gasoline-diesel allocation data. Can you provide insight? Thanks.

  • Electricity - yes, 31 is private ownership, the other 2 are government owned. Natural Gas - 32 is private (non-government) distribution and 20 would be mining. If there is government owned distribution it would also be 428 and 431. Fuel - If the fuel is refined from petroleum, then yes 115. (20 is mining). Sector 326 is simply the retail activity of selling gas. There would be wholesale activity in sector 319.

  • The easiest way to do it, is to enter the purchaser price (value of sales at the pump) - then set margins to yes. This is only necessary if you are trying to get the impact of the fuel manufacturing and distribution. If you are simply trying to see the regional fuel consumed, use the commodity balance sheet (explore>social accounts>balance sheets) for each of the fuel commodities. The beauty of the commodity is that it doesn't matter who produces (eg private 31 or public 428) it, but it will show gross consumption (including imports) as well as local consumption.
