Data questions
Doug,
Please ignore my previous question, because I found the 2008 data looks fine when I use the IMPLAN version3.
However, I still have questions regarding data in general.
1. What is the difference between gross regional product and the total regional output? In my case, the GRP is 137 billion, but the total regional output is $300 billion.
2. The Shannon-Weaver index should not change, because it represents the diversity of the industry in that region. However, it changes everytime if I change the model from 2 digit NIACS to 3 digit NAICS. Can you tell me why?
Thank you!
Mike Jin

If you were using version 2 you may have grabbed an old aggregation scheme (something other than 440 sectors). Download the updated library from the website (under version 2 downloads to get the current 440 aggregation schemes. 1) See the paper: https://implan.com/v4/index.php?option=com_docman&task=doc_download&gid=136&Itemid=7 2) When you aggregate the model it will change the index. The description of the Shannon-Weaver diversity Index is in this old newsletter: [file name=implan_news_v27.pdf size=298535]https://implan.com/v4/media/kunena/attachments/legacy/files/implan_news_v27.pdf[/file]0
