You are going to need the 509 to 440 concordance to compare 2001 data to 2009 Also realize that IMPLAN is not designed to be time series data as we do not go back and revise earlier data when the government revises their data. We also change our data reduction techniques over time. I suspect that the BLS has time series productivity indicators all ready to go. They also project into the future. Are you focusing on a specific industry. We also have Access tables that use ratios to move from 528 to 509 and 509 to 440 which would be more accurate than a simple concordance which is more of a "closest match" scheme.

To convert from 1998 to 2009 IMPLAN data sectoring is a two step process using the "528to509 W Ratios" and the " IMPLAN 440 To IMPLAN 509" tables that can be downloaded from this page: http://implan.com/V4/index.php?option=com_docman&task=cat_view&gid=145&Itemid=7 Both of the tables contain ratios for the split amounts and are not simple concordances.

I downloaded the IMPLAN 440 To IMPLAN 509 concordance table but have noticed that some 440 IMPLAN sectors are not split among the 509 IMPLAN sectors. For example, 440 sector 141 "All other chemical product and preparation manufacturing" is linked with 509 sectors 168 thru 171 but the split is listed as "1" for all of the 509 sectors. I am not sure how then 440 sector 141 should be allocated as a % to these 4 509 sectors. There are several other instances where the % allocation "Split" is "1" when the allocation is among several 509 sectors. Thanks

The Access table has the name correct - it is a 509 to 440 concordance, the title shown in the download screen is backwards. We do not have a concordance with a set of splits to move from the 440 to 509 sectoring scheme as we had not needed it in data development.

Ok. Thanks for the explanation. I am now working on translating the 509 to the 528. What is the difference between the "528to509 W Ratios" table and the "IMPLAN 509 To 528 Concordance Table"? Much appreciated

The concordance table has no ratios, so it is an approximation and can be used in either direction (that is, going from 509 to 528 or from 528 to 509). The "528to509 W Ratios" is exact and can only be used in this one direction (that is, going from 528 to 509).
