Differentials in results with new software
Hi:
I am a long-time IMPLAN user. I download the multipliers and related parameters into a spreadsheet to run my impacts. Using the primary output multipliers, I calculate the sales, earnings, value-added, jobs, and IBT impact results. Using the previous edition of IMPLAN--- the impacts reported from my spreadsheet and the IMPLAN software were exact. Using the new software I am noticing some differentials ---some significant.
On my test runs the sales (output) impacts were within 0.1%; the reported earnings and value-added impacts were within 1.5%. More troubling are the jobs impacts which were about 7% higher than reported by IMPLAN and the IBT which was about 20% higher than IMPLAN.
What is the differences?
Thanks for your assistance.

So just to be clear. I set up the spreadsheet to run off of changes in sales (output). For any given change in direct spending..the total sales, earnings, and value-added impacts are close to the reported IMPLAN results in the software. The reported jobs and IBT are different, however. Total jobs impacts are about 7% greater than reported by the IMPLAN software and IBT is about 20% greater than the results from the software. Thanks Steve -
I used the output multipliers from Explore>Multipliers>Export>To Comma Separated Value File and the IBT and output from Explore>Study Area to create the IBT to Output ratios and was able to recreate the same IBT impact per $1 million impact in Excel that the V3 software created in impact analysis. When using V3 to compare, be sure to set the event year to 2009 before setting the sales value to 1,000,000 and be sure to view the results in 2009 dollars.
