Construction of a Community/Subdivision
Is anyone aware of any IMPLAN case studies regarding the impact of the construction of a major housing development or spec community? Specifically, where the inputs include the costs of construction of both residential and nonresidential (eg civic) buildings and infrastructure?
I'm looking for comparison and context information.
My apologies, I intended this to go into the "Case Studies" forum; Mods, please move this thread.

Click here for a case study that uses three examples to look at the different aspects of a mixed-use development consisting of residential housing, retail stores and industrial businesses. The value you would enter into "Industry Sales" of the construction sector is the value of the completed structure net of land cost, real estate/legal fees, and preparation. If you don't have this value but instead have a project budget, you can do an analysis-by-parts (click here for a tutorial on apb). If you can justify that the housing development would attract new residents or allow local workers to live locally rather than in-commute (i.e., the residents will represent new money for the region), then you can claim the expenditures of those households as in the tutorial. If the development is being built specifically to meet future needs (say a new factory is planned), then the household spending is actually the induced portion of the new factory's impact. -
Hi Guy, I'm not immediately aware of any, but there may be some in the IMPLAN Conference procedings: https://implan.com/v4/index.php?option=com_docman&task=cat_view&gid=51&Itemid=7&limitstart=5
