Fresh & Prcessing Fruit Industry Analysis

In the V3 software, when you have a model open there is a search function that will allow you to answer these questions -under Help>Sector Search. I typed "fruit packing" in the search box and the software showed Sector 19. Next question I had was - do the farmers do the packing before shipping, or do the wholesalers do it after receiving the apple shipment from the farmers. To answer this I went to the commodity balance sheet to see who purchased sector 19 (Explore>Social Accounts>Balance Sheets>Commodity balance sheet and chose commodity 3019). It shows that 19 cents of each dollar outlay by the fruit growing sector goes to buy ag services (19) and wholesale trade buys none. This tells me that the fruit grading,sorting and packing is purchased by the farm sector in its production function. The others were not so easy - "apple sauce" "fruit sauce" "fruit processing" - didn't yield much. But just typing in "Fruit" showed lots. It appears that most fruit processing occurs in sector 54 - except for freezing fruit (whole through concentrated) which occurs in sector 53.
