I am trying to run impacts for sector 407 (fitness centers), and am getting results that do not make intuitive sense or mirror results for the same sector in other counties. The data set is for Baltimore City, MD (2009). My input was total sales of $1,815,253. The direct employment impacts were as follows: Wages = $463,740 Jobs = 85 This translates into an average annual wage of only $5,456. Moreover, the indirect outputs were: Wages: $363,147 Jobs: 6.6 This generates indirect annual wages of over $55,000. All around, these results do not pass a common sense test. For comparison, the same sector tends to generate significantly higher direct wages and fewer direct jobs in other counties. Can someone at IMPLAN let me know if they generate the same figures using the 2009 Baltimore City data set? FTR: I installed the latest update before running this model. I have been experiecing a rash of glitchy results lately, but they usually sort themselves when I re-run the models. This one, I have recreated and rerun several times.

 • David, I looked at the underlying REIS and CEW data for MD fips 510 (Baltimore City). Wage and Salary workers from CEW data was 864 and employee compensation was estimated at 42.799 million (49.5k per worker). However, REIS data shows that for NAICs 713 (which includes sector 407)for Baltimore City, there are 2.5 proprietors for every wage and salary worker with very little proprietor income causing the low labor income per worker that you see. You have two options: 1) Edit study area data to maintain the 49.5k per worker (Employment = (Employee Comp + Proprietor Income)/49500) 2) Customize the event. Enter total sales ($1,815,23). Divide the displayed Labor income (Employee Comp + Proprietor income) by 49,500 and enter the resulting jobs into the employment field. Note: this will not change the indirect and induced effects as it is the labor income that drives the induced effect. The direct employment is "simply" descriptive. I am presuming that your "wages" is actually labor income.
