I am recently analyze the economic impact of a highway and road projects. I have one quick question about the direct, indirect and induced effects on the employments created by the projects. Are these jobs permanent jobs or will some of them go away once the road projects are done?

IMPLAN SupportHi Lotusflower. You are correct. Those are temporary jobs. You should caution those who will us the results that highway and road construction type jobs represent temporary employment and not permanent employment. The estimate given by IMPLAN is the annual average employment, and the income and production associated with that employment and is a one-time effect. We would suggest that you report jobs on a per year basis and not total jobs over the life of the project. It is often tempting to report total jobs. That is, if a project is believed to create 25 jobs over a four-year period, then the way to report this is to say about 25 jobs annually will result from this project. We hope this answers your question.0
