Construction Sector
I will do an economic impact analysis on build a new Research Center. Should I select "sector 36. Construction of other new nonresidential Structures"? Is this sector already include all the materials(concrete, metals, furnishings) and equipment(conveying equipment, electrical, air conditioning, communications)?
And what about all laboratory construction cost(lab casework and furnishings, controlled environment rooms, fume hoods and other air containment units), do these also already include in sector 36? If not, which sector should I use for analysis?
Thanks
Ran

IMPLAN SupportHi Ran. In reading your post, we would suggest that you might want to use Sector 34 to model your research construction impact. If you would like to modify this to match your data you can do so by importing the spending pattern Activity and modifying the Event coefficients to match your known values. To import an Industry Sending Pattern for Sector 34 you can navigate Setup Activities>Activity Options>Import>Industry Spending Pattern>Sector 34. This method is part of the larger category of Analysis by Parts. Additional information can be found at this link: implan.com/V4/index.php?option=com_multi...parts&Itemid=71. If you have detail expenditures for your project, you could convert them to coefficients of purchase. Coefficients are created by dividing the spending per Sector over total budget for the project or total Output of Sector 34. Once this is done, you can edit the spending pattern by entering your coefficients for your selected sectors to customize the project to fit your data. You will then enter the budget/construction costs as the activity level for your project. To do this, you can navigate to Setup Activities>Edit Activity>Name Your Activity>Activity level, enter your budget/construction amount. We hope this helps.0
