Equestrian Center
Hello,
Which sector code would I use for an Equestrian Center. I suppose I would use standard hard and soft cost codes (34 and 369, respectively) for the construction of it, but I'm seeing a number of different results come up for the operation of it and was wondering if you could suggest which code would be best to use.
Thanks.

IMPLAN SupportHi Nima. To answer your first question, we think may be Sector 34 may be more appropriate than Sector 36. As far as modeling the construction of an equestrian center, we agree that you ought to model it at minimum during the construction phase and operations phase. However, you should note that rolling costs up into broad categories is not recommend nor will it provide the best deal results of your project. If you have detail information on your project, then we suggest that you bridge these costs to the appropriate IMPLAN Sectors to give the best results possible. For example, if you have detail construction cost data, use this granular data to enhance your study. If you have similar data on operational costs, equipment costs, and furniture and fixture costs, you can use these data to develop detail and more accurate estimates of the impact of this type of project. You could divide the project along these lines: Construction, Equipment, Furniture and Fixture, and Operations. Then you could summarize your results into “Temporary” and “Permanent or Reoccurring” impacts. Doing so, will allow you to customize sectors when appropriate to better reflect your actual data and project’s overall impact. The bottom line is the selection of appropriate sectors to use will be largely determined by how much data you have. Again, rolling everything up into one nice round number may be easier to model but it is not the best approach to model this type of project. Please contact us if we can be of further help.0
