multiple regions / multiple sector contrib analysi

I'd like to compare contribution analyses for a NC county and its surrounding counties' forestry and wood products sectors. -first I performed a multiple sector contribution analysis for the one county in question following the instructions I found on forum -second I performed the same analysis but for the county and its surrounding 16 counties analyzed as a single region region -third I would like to perform the contribution analysis as two regions - the county in questions as one and the surrounding 16 counties as the other. Could you walk me through this part? thanks jaj

 • Hi James, It sounds like you want to do an Multi-Regional Input-Output Analysis for your third. Please note that this analysis will not add up to your aggregate region analysis, and will actually more accurately reflect the way the impact in your original county ripples out into the surrounding 16 counties, because if avoids Aggregation Bias of the Multipliers that are created when you aggregate the Study Area Data into a single Model. You can either setup a new model for the multi-industry contribution, following the same steps you did before or you can use the single region model from your first analysis. Once you have the Sectors and the impact setup, you will proceed to the Analyze Scenarios screen. If you don't already have the MRIO functions turned on, you can do so by going to the File>User Preferences. Once you have opened the User Preferences window, you will want to choose the Analysis tab. On the Analysis tab you will select Advanced Modeling, if it is not already checked, and then check the Enable MRIO check box. This will activate the MRIO screen in the lower half of your Scenarios window. You will also need to have a separate Model with the other 16 counties aggregated together, so you can import this into the Model that is experiencing the Direct impact. When you have that you should be able to follow these instructions to proceed through Multi-Regional Input-Output Analysis setup.
