Implan wages for specific industry and county
I am running the impact of Oil and Gas Extraction jobs in Orange County, California and am coming up with annual wages of $16,160 (2011 multipliers). The industry average is closer to $75,000 (indeed, in Los Angeles County or in the State of California multipliers I get annual wages of $79,032 and $71,976, respectively). What would be the cause of this for Orange County?

IMPLAN SupportHi Jill, Thank you for your post, I apologize for the delay in our response. Total employment includes the proprietors which includes the investors in LLCs and partnerships. There are many such investors with small fractions of ownership. I would try to wash them out of the impacts by: 1) Get the oil and gas value of production for Orange County and apply that directly as an event "industry sales". E.g., this site: http://www.drillingedge.com/california/orange-county 2) Use the BLS QCEW wages and salary employment and income to edit the event to reflect those values. Remember to convert wage and salary to employee compensation (to include benefits) - usually an increase of about 30%. Thanks!0
