Hello, I’m looking at a project (mining related) that will employ 128 workers for 2 ten hour shifts (however there won't be the same number of workers in the shifts since 8 workers will only work 1 shift), 4-5 days a week. Would this need to be converted somehow to equate direct jobs for IMPLAN? Thanks!

  • Hi Jessica, Are you using jobs as proxy for sales and Employee Compensation (i.e. are jobs the only figure you have to enter into IMPLAN)? Jobs in and of themselves don't drive any economic impacts, and thus we only need to worry about their definition relative to the Event if you are using these value to proxy the remaining fields in the Event. What really matters to the Event as regards Direct labor are the Employee Compensation and Proprietor Income values as these are the fields that will drive the impact. Because of your unusual labor situation it might be wise to see if you could get compensation values. That said if you are using jobs as a proxy, please let us know and we will consider this a little further to be sure that we get you the best value with which to proxy your Event. Otherwise, you can just modify the Direct Employment value in the results to match what you know, you might then want to explain how your jobs are defined in your report. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
