Economic impact of a nonprofit organization
I want to analyze the economic impact (maybe the input and output modeling) of a nonprofit organization on a county level in a quite precise way, but I am not really sure how I can do that on implan and where I can find the data source. NCCS is a good data source I have found so far. Does anyone have a specific way of measuring the economic impact of nonprofit activities?

IMPLAN SupportHi Yang. We think Sector 424 would be the appropriate sector to model the impact of a nonprofit in your region. But one way to be sure is to use the Sector Search function in IMPLAN (Help > Sector Search). If you click on the column heading "Industry Code", it will sort the sectors numerically; then you can scroll down to sectors 424 to see all the different activities that are included in this sector. Then, when setting up your Events, you can modify Sector 424 to zero-out Proprietor Income. When reporting your results, you will also want to ignore the direct Taxes and Production and Imports (TOPI) column and the direct Corporations tax column (OPI). OPI is treated as a leakage in I-O analysis so it has no bearing on impact results. The same is true for TOPI—it does not generate further impacts, though you will need to ignore all direct TOPI and may want to report indirect and induced TOPI. We hope this helps.0
