RPC in Service Sectors

Hello, I am confused about what Regional Purchase Coefficient (RPC) stands for in service sectors. I know RPC is the proportion of local supply that satisfies local demand. For example, in Retail Store-Gasoline Station (sector 326)/Retail Service-Gasoline Stations (3326)sector, should the RPC = local sale of diesel and gasoline / local consumption of diesel and gasoline? How about for Transport by Air (sector 332)/Air Transportation Service (3332)? What does the RPC stand for in this sector?

  • Hi Duanyi. The Regional Purchase Coefficient (RPC) is the proportion of the total demand for a commodity by all users in the Study Area that is supplied by producers located within the Study Area. For example, the RPC for the commodity 3326 ’’Retail Services-Gasoline Stations’’ is 0.9489 which means 94.89% of the demand by local ’’Retail Services-Gasoline Stations is met by local retail service stations. Conversely, 5.11% (1.0-RPC) of the demand for ’’Retail Services-Gasoline Stations is satisfied by imports. We hope this explains RPC and what it means.
