I am trying to do a multi-regional analysis that provides impacts for construction that occurs within a single county; however, we also want to estimate the impact on the remainder of the state. I have done the multi-regional analysis before, but I can't remember if I need to include the construction ONLY in the county in which it occurs, and leave the remainder-of-the-state counties with no changes in construction spending, or put the same level of construction spending in both models before linking them. Which is correct? thanks

  • Hi William, Glad to help. You just need to create an Event in the county in which the construction project is occurring. Then you link this county to the Rest of State (ROS) through the MRIO Scenario window. The only time you would want to create an Event in a second region would be in a situation where you had a building being constructed in county A and in county B. When you have two sets of Direct Effects, the process is a little more complicated because you need to have a set of Models for every Direct Effect. So if this were the case you would need to have one set of Models (county a and ROS - county a) for the county a Direct Effect and then a second set of Models (county b and ROS - b) for the second Direct Effect. Please let me know if this addresses your concern or if you have any additional questions.
