Household Spending Data
I noticed that in the household spending patterns data, IMPLAN code 430 - 'State and local government passenger transit' does not exist. However, most transit systems in the country are owned and run by local government agencies. Can IMPLAN data be used to estimate household spending on public transit? If so, please explain.
Thanks,
Tepa

Hi Tepa, The reason this purchase doesn't show up in the SL Gov Pass Trans sector is that spending patterns are on a commodity basis and SL Gov Pass Trans is not a unique commodity distinct from privately produced Pass Trans. Thus, the demand that households have for SL Gov Pass Trans is included in with their demand for commodity 3336 (Transit and ground passenger transportation services). To find out how much of this is Gov-produced, go to Explore > Social Accounts > Balance Sheets > View By: Commodity Balance Sheet and select commodity 3336 from the drop-down menu.
