Coal Mining in 2 Counties
Hello,
I am conducting a 2013 analysis on the longwall mining industry in the PA counties of Greene and Washington. There are only two companies that operate longwall mines in those counties, and I have employment data from those companies. They report 3,550 employees in 2013, but some employees work across the two counties so I do not have a separate count for the 2 counties. Can I make a model with the 2 counties' data and then input the 3,550?

Hi Anne, Thank you for your post. Since you will be doing a two county regional model, splitting the employment between the two counties will not be an issue. This would only be a concern if you wanted to model the impact of employment in each county. In addition, it sounds as if the employment number that you have is the number of jobs. This value before entered into IMPLAN would need to be converted into a head count. As this is how IMPLAN treats employment. I have attached the conversion chart to this post. Thanks
