question on proprietary income

In the situation where a corporation is being analyzed in parts. Can there by a positive number in the 6001 category of the Labor Income Change activity? Does PI belong only to the owners of the company in question in the case that they are sole proprietors or partners? Or, does this category (PI) also apply to contract labor in the employment of that corporation, sole proprietorship, or partnership? If it only applies to the owners of the entity, where do I categorize contract labor expenditures? I would assume those do not go under 5001. Thank you, Thomas Barker

  • Hi Thomas, If you are analyzing a Corporation then it would not have Proprietors. You are correct, PI only belongs to a sole proprietorship or Partnership. Contract labor it if is business service is a part of that temp services and can be added to your spending pattern for the 2012 data year the Sector for this would be 3382 and for the 2013 year it would be Sector 3464. If the contract labor is construction related this may represent Proprietor Income, if the construction contractor is a sole proprietor, so please let us know if that is the case. Thanks!
