Trade Data Error message

I keep getting a trade data error message and it says: the trade flows data could not be located, do you want to use econometric RPc? what does that mean? and how can I change it.

  • Hi. Thank you for your post. Trade Flows and E-RPC are Trade Methods as a way to look at the transport of goods. Counties and States are built with the Trade Flows method and Zip codes with the E-RPC method. You will not be able to change E-RPC to Trade Flows. However if you are building a county with all zip codes, you can build the county from the actual county file to utilize the Trade Flows methodology.

  • Hello, thank you for your response. But will it still do the analysis, or will it affect the data?

  • Hello, All methods will be able to run analyses. As long as a model is Built Through Multipliers, you will be able to use it for analysis. However, you should not be seeing this message if you are building with county level or state level files. If you are building with county or state level files and you are getting this message, please let us know. If you are building ZIP Codes or Congressional Districts this methodology is the only Multiplier calculation and the warning exists simply to indicate that the Multiplier build is different from the default Multiplier build and because the econometric Regional Purchasing Coefficient methodology creates Multipliers with a different mathematical definition (based on a different method for measuring locally available purchases) you will not be able to directly compare it to a Model built using Trade Flow methodologies. Also these Models are not available for Multi-Regional Input-Output Analysis at this time. If you are interested in additional information on RPC calculations and methodologies, this link provides a high level overview of the different methodologies: https://implan.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=793:implan-trade-options&catid=185:data-information
