Results
Hi,
I analysed the state level economic impacts of forestry sector and using the same methodology analysed the regional economic impacts of forestry sector for that state. Then, when I sum up the regional economic impacts, it does not matches with the state level economic impacts. Could you give me the reason for this? Also, which of those results are supposed to be higher?
Thanks

IMPLAN SupportHi Unmes, Thank you for your post. Adding up the impact of the county and state will result in a higher figure as the county you are comparing it to will be included in the State's aggregation. This is unless you have ran the state model less the county. We wouldn't expect them to add up. However, it could actually trend either direction, state could result larger or county could depends on the local mix. We do recommend though that you use an advanced type of analysis, Multi Regional Input/Output (MRIO). MRIO allows you to demonstrate how an impact in your Study Area disperses into other regions and allows you to see how these effects in surrounding area create additional local effects. The reason county level analysis and county specific data is so powerful is that reserves the county based relationships, these relationships would be expected to be different than the aggregate state relationships, because each county will have different rates of productivity and pay, as well as different local RPC's. The only way to make the Model's comparable in the method that she is using is to create and edit a state Model for every county she is looking at Direct Effects in, thus forcing the state Model Direct relationships to be identical to the county.
