"Sector Missing" Error Message
Hi,
I’m trying to prepare an economic impact analysis of a solar farm. Could you please help me – what does this error message mean?

Hello, The error message indicates that as of the year of the data set you are working with no privately held solar energy companies existed in your region. Thus there are no current operations of private solar Industries in your area. That said there are a couple of things that we can do to help you, but we need to be sure first that we are sure of exactly what it is that you are doing. If you could answer these questions, it would help us help you discern what the best method is for moving forward with your analysis. 1. Are you looking to model construction or operations or both? 2. If you are looking at operations, will the operations in question be private or public? 3. Some areas of New York have high densities of private solar panels, these will not appear in the data-set either. If these are the types of operations you are looking at it would be useful to know that as well. Thanks! IMPLAN Staff -
Thank you for the additional information. You can model both the Construction and Operation separately. We recommend creating an Activity for the Construction impact and a separate Activity for the Operations impact. We recommend obtaining a construction spending pattern since these Sectors are quote broad. If you aren’t able to obtain this, let us know and we can direct you to some. As for the Operations impact, since it is private, we recommend using Sector for Solar Energy- 31 in the 440 Sector Scheme (Data years 2012 and earlier) or 44 in the 536 Sector Scheme (Data years 2013 & 2014). As for the study region, this depends on where you wish to see your impacts at the State Level or a sub region. If you do not mind providing us with additional information about your study; we can further assist you in this study.
