Cattle Output
Hello,
I'm wondering if you could describe your methods for calculating output for sector 11? I'm comparing your 2014 output values to the value of production published in NASS's Meat Animals Production, Disposition, and Income Annual Summary for cattle and calves. For each state your output is considerably higher with the national value being almost 40% higher than NASS. Could you explain the cause of this discrepancy?

Hello Ashley, In 2014, we controlled to the BEA's estimate of cash receipts, which at the time (and currently) was estimated to be $97 Billion. We now (in data year 2015) use NASS gross income. In 2014, this was reported to be $82 billion (see the table entitled Cattle and Calves Production and Income). For the 2015 data year, we use NASS values more directly since the BEA itself is using NASS and ERS.
