What is the best way to model air travel? If someone buys a ticket where they live, is flying into the region of study, then flying home, what should be put into the model?

  • Hello, Thank you for your question. If you would like to model air travel, you can do so by entering the price of the ticket into the impacted region only. The return ticket would only be impacting the region you are leaving from (your home base, so to speak), so you wouldn't be capturing any relevant data by putting that into the model. • So, for a round-trip ticket, would you suggest splitting the cost in half and running it through sector 408?

  • That is the most appropriate way, yes. Without knowing the details of the study, though, I am only making a suggestion about the sector. The final decision in terms of which one fits best is ultimately yours. Thank you! -IMPLAN Staff
