Interpretation of big change in Wet Corn Milling O/E

We have been looking at the wet corn milling industry for some time now and noticed a big change in O/E between the 2014 and 2016 tables.  The values appear to be pretty consistent between 2016 and 2018.   Any thoughts on why the large drop occurred during the middle part of the decade?  Does it have something to do with ethanol production?

Overall prices for corn syrup have risen steadily through this period, and employment has not changed by a whole lot.

Thanks much

    Hello there!

IMPLAN's data team works diligently to always improve our annual data. The change you are seeing is likely due to the incorporation of the updated 2017 Census of Agriculture data that began with the 2018 IMPLAN data. Information on that can be found in the article 2018 Data Release Notes.
