Hi there, I am building a model to estimate deployment of solar energy facilities in a state. I have used a bill of goods approach to determine capital expenditures per year for a handful of industries such as IMPLAN 546 Industry Codes 52, 307,329, 236, and 457. My question is, to estimate final demand (i.e., the amount of industry output attributed to in-state industries) do I need to identify an LPP for each industry (100% for 52-construction, 1% for 307-semiconductor manufacturing, etc.) and apply that to the industry output value before entering the $ value into IMPLAN, or simply enter the full industry output value and allow IMPLAN to use default RPCs for the state? Thanks!

Hello Will!
When you are using an Industry Event in IMPLAN, you are by definition saying that the Industry that you are impacting is local. Based on the information you have shared, you may actually want to consider using Commodity Events instead. Our support article - Industry vs. Commodity Output - has a questionnaire that would assist you in configuring your Event setup depending on the purchase scenario for the various line items.
Hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thanks Michael, that does help! I have an additional question regarding MRIO. Is it possible to set up a multi-year MRIO analysis, or must a separate MRIO analysis be modeled for each year analyzed? Essentially, I want to set up this analysis as a MRIO and have 10 custom regions within the state I am analyzing. However, I also want to study the impacts of solar installations predicted to come online over the next 3 years. I know that I would typically create groups based on the year the industry/commodity events occur, but how would I go about this in a MRIO? Each of the 10 combined regions will have the same commodity events occurring (simulating construction of the solar facilities within that region) at varying values for each event based on where the solar facilities are planned to to be constructed. For ease of interpretation lets say 2 commodity events per region per year. Would I set up groups for each of the next 3 years (i.e., 2026, 2027, 2028) with 20 events occurring in each group (2 per region), or would I need to have each region as it's own group? As I type this question, I am beginning to realize it may not be possible to conduct a multi-year MRIO. Any guidance would be helpful. Thank you!

Hello Will!
Of course! Happy you found this information useful.
If you are modeling multiple years of impacts in an MRIO framework, our typical recommendation is that you analyze each year as its own individual IMPLAN Project. So if there are three years that you are looking to model, that would be best to set up as three separate Projects.
